Many of our research questions involve multi-subunit molecular machines, requiring intricate and innovative strategies for production. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art protein expression and purification infrastructure. We employ multiple expression systems, including E. coli, insect cells, and mammalian cells, to produce proteins of interest. Our facilities include high-performance liquid chromatography systems and other standard protein purification equipment, enabling the preparation of high-quality proteins and protein complexes for biochemical and structural studies.

In addition, we have access to cutting-edge cryo-EM facilities at the Beckman Institute at Caltech, as well as national cryo-EM centers. For projects involving mass spectrometry, we collaborate closely with the Proteome Exploration Laboratory (PEL) at Caltech and other off-campus collaborators.
